GECII's Energy Solutions effort concentrate on planning, design, and implementation of renewable energy solutions based on wind, solar, biomass, hydro, bio fuels and nuclear waste sources. The availability of affordable and reliable energy is one of the most crucial requirements for economic development and modernization especially in developing countries. This is particularly important in Africa, a continent where the majority of people are still dependent on fuel wood for their energy requirements. With 13.4% of the world's population and a land area of 15%, Africa has only 2% of the world?s industrial capacity. Its per capita income is only 15% of the world average and consumes only 3% of world's energy supply. Many Sub-Saharan African countries are poor and have limited energy infrastructure.
GECII's energy solutions involve sponsoring partnerships between investors and prospective client countries to harness high end renewable energy sources based on solar, nuclear decay and algae bio-diesel to foster economic development and at the same time promote people empowerment and poverty eradication . Currently GECII is developing a nuclear waste heat driven Stirling engine that in turn drives a traditional generator to deliver grid ready commercial electricity. Recently GECII completed a design for a hybrid PV Solar/DC Battery/Diesel Generator to deliver off grid 24/7 power supply to an Island country. Plans are underway to launch an algae bio-diesel prototype teaming with a North American plant research center and a state university.
GECII has strategically positioned itself under its Renewable Energy Solutions program to be the premier provider and leader in performing feasibility and viability alternative energy solutions for a global clientele and subsequently provide project management oversight for implementation. We have on-going efforts in a number of countries to explore hybrid and singular designs for solar, wind, hydro, biomass, as well as bio-diesel energy from Jatropha and Algae farming.
