Call Center Study: Performed a comparative evaluation of ACD products against the US Internal Revenue Service requirements to determine the solution giving the government the best value.
Feasibility Study: Performed a feasibility study for USTDA and performed a telecommunications modernization plan for the Polish public network following the collapse of the Soviet Union to support a Western style market economy including identification of suitable funding sources
Feasibility Study: Performed an international traffic engineering study for Thailand to justify a new national intelsat satellite gateway, included a frequency plan that was filed including a relevancy frequency plan that was filed with ITU
R&D: Under contract to ITU, GECII developed a capability plan for South Korea to build a national digital switching system.
FTS 2000: GECII was subcontracted to Sprint to provide project management services for FTS 2000 Network B and concurrently subcontracted to AT&T federal systems to perform FTS 2000 Network A ISDN services at locations of six major federal agencies.
Hybrid Solar Energy Solution: GECII was contracted by a prime in an African country to assist them design a hybrid integrated PV/Solar/DC Battery/Diesel Generator 24/7 off grid electricity power supply system for an Island nation.

Infrastructure
SCADA: Performed a systems engineering design of a SCADA system with 50 nodes of microwave and fiber optic networking for monitoring power transformers in a 122 county region of North Texas.
SCADA: Designed a frequency monitoring network to provide data acquisition for the Republic of Turkey along the Turkish-Russian border for border control.
Mobile Cellular: Subcontracted to a major North American cellular service provider, GECII designed and implemented several PCS systems in several metropolitan areas
GPS: Subcontracting to Westinghouse and Motorola, GECII designed and implemented technology for automated vehicle locator systems for monitoring 1400 buses of the Denver Area Rapid Transit System
Voice Communication Network: Engineering design and implementation of a nationwide voice communication network for an insurance company subsidiary of K-Mart.
AM Broadcast System: Engineered. assembled, and tested a 10KW AM broadcast station for the United States Army for deployment in an overseas destination.

School District Network:
Subcontracting to a major Dallas area systems integrator for the design implementation and roll out of an integrated voice and data Wide Area Network, WAN, for the Plano Independent School District, PISD. The District consisted of 54 schools (Elementary, Middle and High Schools) that needed to be internet worked.
GECII designed each individual school LAN as an Ethernet based LAN with applications running off a Microsoft Exchange Server on Dell hardware and Compaq workstations. GECII defined and implemented custom interfaces between legacy systems that were to continue being utilized with the new platform.
The school WAN VPN facilitated interschool communications, hosted applications for cafeteria and state meal plans, offered internet access to every student, provided home access to student records for parents and students and provided external connectivity through a single portal to the State educational network, TENET, to in-district and out-of-district library services featuring both data and VoIP communications.

Systems Integration
Channel Partner: GECII teamed up with a major European OEM as a systems integrator and channel partner to engineer, implement, test and commission a complete event data management system (EDM) system for the collection, safeguarding, processing, archiving Global One downstream switch network event information at more than 87 switch nodes on a worldwide network infrastructure. The GECII system architecture was built and customized as a web-enabled management and billing solution around an EHPT Billing Mediation Platform, BMP, an HP 9000 super mini computer system and a high end Cisco router and switch systems.

Integrated Voice Data Video Network: Under contract to a major Dallas Bank, GECII, defined requirements, developed the architecture, designed and implemented a Tactical Command and Control Center in the Dallas Bank headquarters, which allowed the bank's access, manipulation and control of information on the World Wide Money Market Funds Transaction System.  The Command Center used a custom video switcher developed by GECII, to tie into major global money markets in Chicago, New York, London, Frankfurt, Paris and Tokyo markets and facilitated real time commodity trade. GECII defined and designed and implemented a credit validation into a visa gateway.

Energy Client:
GECII was retained by the North Texas Power company to design and implement a 900 MHz Multiple Address Radio Network for a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) communications system over a 122 county geographical region of North Texas.  GECII provided project engineering, design and implementation of the multiple 900 MHz radio systems connecting four substations each to the SCADA master computer in Fort Worth.  Project activities included conducting physical site surveys, providing path/propagation analysis, path design, frequency filings with FCC, equipment design, installation/test supervision, and review of  test data with client staff as part of the system acceptance.

Software Development
Integrated Bank Network:
GECII was contracted by a major US Bank with regional offices in Dallas Texas, to customize its  Lotus Notes system for their nationwide IT infrastructure. IBM provided the hardware and software for the entire project. GECII studied and analyzed traffic requirements at more than 900 branch bank locations and used this data to develop an ideal architecture for the applications that the Bank wanted to implement. The corporate network was reengineered to facilitate broadband communications.

Key applications included mortgage processing from multiple locations for a single file, email management, ATM system management and document automation.  GECII designed the electronic mail environment based on x400 mail. Clients were Lotus Notes Mail, Microsoft Outlook, UNIX mail among others.

GECII planned the installation and managed the roll out of Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange Server installation for the Bank.  The Exchange Server network was originally built as a 100 user dual server pilot network and then, due to the bank?s business requirements, was flash-cut to all users over a holiday weekend. The corporate network was reengineered to facilitate broadband communications and fit the above architecture.

Japanese Software Company: GECII developed a Terminal Administration Program (TAP) for automating the installation of the client's ISDN Data Terminal Equipment (DTE).

Relational Database Solution: GECII developed a relational database in dBase III for insurance claims processing for PCG, Inc.

Expert System: Subcontracting to NEC America, GECII developed a Rapid Service Delivery "RSD" system for offloading central office switches in the North American public networks.

Operator Support: GECII is on a national vendor master services contract with a couple of  major US GSM / UMTS Cellular operators to perform various aspects of their network planning, design, engineering, and implementation that  include;

  • RF planning and design
  • RF optimization
  • Equipment (BTS, BSC, MSC etc) implementation, integration, testing and commissioning

Ugandan Government: GECII teamed with a major Dallas based systems integrator, at the invitation of the Uganda government, to perform feasibility for an IT infrastructure to support the activities of the Uganda Revenue Authority, URA, the primary revenue collection and taxing agency in the country. The team opened an in-country office for six months.

GECII designed an IT infrastructure consisting of a VSAT node in Kampala to link operations in Uganda to the integrator's data processing facilities in UK and USA.The network would allow URA to process data collected from all of Uganda's individual tax payers, businesses , customs , airports, value added taxing (VAT) centers and pay as you earn (PAYE) centers for processing. The data would then be transported electronically to London, UK and Dallas, Texas for processing and subsequent reporting to the URA and Treasury back in Uganda and archived both in the USA and Kampala Uganda for future use.
